We have answered some frequently asked questions below, but please get in touch if there is anything else you would like to ask us.

Q. What days of the week are weddings held?

We only hold weddings on Saturdays and only a handful each year.  This allows plenty of time for us to focus on each event and make the venue perfect for each couple.

Q. Can we erect a marquee, tipi, yurt, canopy or gazebo?

Yes, you can hire or bring along a marquee, tipi, yurt, canopy  or gazebo. Folkerton Mill does not currently own a marquee.

Q. Is the venue wheelchair accessible?

Yes, the venue is wheelchair accessible and we have disabled toilet facilities. For more information on accessibility please refer to our Information for Guests.

Q. Will Folkerton Mill staff help to set up the venue on the day before the wedding?

Folkerton Mill is a DIY venue and the barn and Mill are very much a blank canvas for you to personalise. We will provide you with the furniture, crockery, glasses, etc and you are able to set-up and decorate the barn with your friends and family. Depending on how you decide to use each of the spaces we will move tables and seating back into place and finish setting with crockery, cutlery, name places etc. after your ceremony while you are enjoying fizz and canapés.

Q. Do you allow fireworks?

We are very sorry to say that due to our proximity to neighbouring farms and livestock we are not able to allow fireworks.

Q. Are there high chairs at the venue?

We are able to provide high chairs if required.

Q. Do you provide a Master of Ceremonies?

Scott is more than happy to welcome your guests and introduce the marrying couple before dinner and introduce the speeches and ensure all timings are correct.

Q. Are there parking facilities?

There is very limited parking at the venue and parking on site is reserved for contractors.  We ask that where possible guests arrive by taxi or coach to keep cars at the venue to a minimum. If you are attending an event at Folkerton Mill and do require a parking space then please car share where possible and get in touch using our contact form so that we can reserve you a space. Please note that this is not guaranteed and we will liaise with the marrying couple to reserve spaces. If you do not receive confirmation of a space then do not drive to the venue.

Q. Do you have a ceremonial knife for cutting the wedding cake?

No, the marrying couple should provide a ceremonial knife if required.

Q. Can a coach access the venue?

Yes, there is plenty of space for a coach to access and turn. However, there is only space for one coach to turn at a time. If you are arranging more than one coach for your guests, we would ask that one coach wait at the road end while the first coach is filled and turns around before the next coach is driven into the venue.

Q. Will taxis come to Folkerton Mill?

Yes, but guests must pre-book their taxis before arriving at Folkerton Mill.

Q. Can we hang fairy lights?

Yes, we have a lot of lighting hung already but you are welcome to add more if you would like.

Q. Are there ladders at the venue?

Yes, we have ladders available should you wish you to suspend decorations from the ceiling.

Q. Do you allow confetti?

We allow natural confetti which we can provide as part of the wedding package as an optional extra.

Q. Can we have hay bales?

We are very sorry to say that we can no longer provide hay bales for health and safety reasons.

Q. Are we allowed candles?

No, but we can provide jars/ bottles which you can fill with fairy lights.

Q.  What time does the venue close?

The bar closes at 12 midnight and we ask that your band or DJ wind down around this time. Coaches and taxis should be booked for no later than 12.30am. The Mill closes at 1am.
