THE WOODEN HAY BARN

Retaining many of its original features, the old wooden barn sits overlooking the site with beautiful views over the South Lanarkshire countryside. The inside follows the rustic theme of the Mill but is a blank canvas for you to decorate as much or as little as you wish to reflect your own personal style.

There is a chandelier in the centre of the barn made from an old wooden ladder from the Mill and the wooden beams that construct the roof are visible with plenty of space to hang decorations.

This is our largest single space and we can seat up to 100 people comfortably in the barn.

We have recently had fantastic new wooden tables & chairs built for the wedding feast. They are very much in keeping with the rustic style of the barn and are included for your use in the venue hire price. You can of course bring your own if you prefer, it is exclusively your venue!

THE OLD MILL

The Old Mill is really something special, as one of the best preserved examples of its kind in the area we have been careful to preserve all the remaining original features giving you a fantastically unique space to use. The old stone walls have been white-washed leaving it a blank canvas for you to decorate as much or as little as you like to reflect your own personal style. Often used as a reception space for your guests arriving, there is a quirky bar constructed out of reclaimed wood carefully built around all the old machinery with the water wheel cogs visible behind the back bar.

THE COURTYARD

The courtyard is a gorgeous space surrounded by the original stonewalls of the outbuildings and colourful planters, it is the perfect place for your fizz and canapé reception.

We have festoon lights hung already but you can of course get more creative with this area too, some of our couples have hung bunting, put up small marquees and set up tables and chairs, with music either live or your own playlist, which really does get the party started!

THE FIRE PITS

Located just outside the Hay Barn, the seating around the fire pits is our favourite place in the whole venue. It offers beautiful views of the surrounding countryside and a 360 of the whole venue. Also, because of its location, the seating area captures the warm rays of the sunshine all day long. During the evening the festoon lights and the glimmer from the fires channel boho rustic vibes making it a perfect hang out if you need a break from dancing!

THE GARDEN

The Garden at Folkerton Mill is beautifully natural and nestled along side Poniel Burn and surrounded by stunning Lanarkshire countryside. The wooden bridge and original water wheel add an authentic rustic feel and create a truly romantic backdrop for your ceremony and photographs.

Stretch Tent

Scottish folklore suggests that it is good luck if it rains on your wedding day. This comes from the traditional handfasting ceremony that is sometimes included during the wedding ceremony. The marrying couple are bound together with ribbon or cord, they ‘tie the knot’ to represent their commitment to each other. If it rains and the knot gets wet then it is harder to untie. However, we realise that you would rather you and your guests didn’t get wet if it does happen to rain. Therefore, we have a beautiful stretch tent included in your hire to give you peace of mind, that no matter the weather you can still have an outdoor ceremony in our stunning garden.
