Folkerton Mill Featured in Tie the Knot Scotland: Celebrating an Inclusive Wedding Full of Joy
There are some weddings that stay with you long after the last guest has gone home.
Cara and Remi's beautiful celebration at Folkerton Mill was one of those weddings.
We're absolutely delighted that their wedding has been featured in Tie the Knot Scotland, highlighting not only the stunning photographs captured by Rhiannon Neale Photography, but also the story behind a day that was completely personal, joyful and unapologetically true to who they are.

A wedding built around authenticity
When Cara and Remi first began searching for their venue, they weren't simply looking for somewhere beautiful. They wanted somewhere they felt they belonged.
As Cara shared in the feature, finding suppliers who were genuinely welcoming and accepting of LGBTQ+ couples was incredibly important to them. They wanted a venue where they could celebrate their relationship without having to question whether they would be fully accepted.
Reading those words means so much to us. At Folkerton Mill, we've always believed that every couple deserves to feel safe, respected and celebrated. Love doesn't come in one shape, one story or one tradition, and neither should weddings.
Creating an inclusive space isn't something we do for recognition, it's simply part of who we are.
Making the wedding their own
One of the things we loved most about Cara and Remi's day was how they embraced the freedom to create a celebration that reflected them. Instead of following traditions simply because "that's how weddings are done", they chose meaningful moments that felt personal. Their ceremony included a ring warming, allowing every guest to hold their wedding rings and share a wish for their future together, before completing a beautiful handfasting ceremony. Afterwards, they cut their wedding cake with a sword, a nod to the famous Suontaka sword and a symbol of unity, equality and inclusive love.
It was completely unique, and completely them.
A relaxed wedding weekend
After getting ready in the Folkerton Mill farmhouse, the couple enjoyed a first look before the ceremony and spent the day celebrating with 60 of their closest family and friends. The atmosphere was everything we love about weddings here.
Guests enjoyed Scottish Pizza Co., wandered between the gardens, courtyard and fire pits, laughed through heartfelt speeches and finished the evening wrapped in blankets around the fire after a relaxed evening of dancing.
Rather than rushing through a tightly packed schedule, Cara and Remi created a wedding that allowed them to truly spend time with the people they love.
That's exactly what we hope every couple experiences at Folkerton Mill.
Why this feature means so much
Of course, it's always exciting to see Folkerton Mill featured in a national wedding magazine, but what makes this feature particularly special isn't the publicity. It's that the story being shared is one of inclusion, individuality and creating a wedding without compromise. It's a reminder that the best weddings aren't about following trends, they're about celebrating your relationship in a way that feels completely authentic.
